Song story and background information

Trust No One's song 'A State Of Affairs' features on their 2003 album 'Younger Than Some, Smarter Than Most'. A slightly different edit of the track appeared on the University of Portsmouth's 'Entertainment Technology' various artists compilation album, along with exclusive edits of the songs 'Tarmac' and 'Say Nothing More', as well as two tracks by Lojik. 'A State Of Affairs (Edited Album Version)' can also be found on Trust No One's 2004 'Promo' promotional CD Sampler.

'A State Of Affairs' is a guitar-based song about an illicit affair, set over Hip Hop breakbeats and electric bass guitar.

'Entertainment Technology' was a limited edition charity CD compilation featuring the recording work of students and lecturers at the Creative Technologies department of the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. All profits from the sale of this 30 track, 2 CD album were donated to the Dreams Come True Charity, aiming to lift the spirits of sick children, by enabling seriously or terminally ill children to turn their most cherished dreams into reality. This compilation album is now no longer available to order.

Lyrics
You talk of our future
As if it's been set in stone
I err on the side of caution
I'm accustomed to being alone

While I know the things I do
Are not acceptable to you
It seems the more I try to stop
The more I feel I'm giving up

I want to be wanted
I strive to be worth it
You thought I was thoughtless
Then walk - see if I care less

Maybe I'm in denial
Reinvention is drawing near

Well, she's a sympathetic ear
Making sense of all I fear
And though I know I'm doing wrong
I feel I've got to carry on

I'm giving up hope of finding perfection
I find it hard enough just seeking affection
You think it's a joke - then why aren't you laughing?
I'm a realist - is that such a bad thing?

No giving in, no compromises
No giving in, no compromises
No giving in, no compromises
No giving in, no compromises
No compromises, no compromises
No compromises, no compromises
No compromises, no compromises
No compromises, no compromises

I'm not the person I once was
I've been corrupted by my cause
Well, I stopped caring long ago
But still emotions sometimes show
It's not simple like it was
And I think that's just because
This is my one state of affairs
In a State that's not aware

I want to be wanted
I strive to be worth it
You thought I was thoughtless
Then walk, go on - just see if I care less

Tell me you don't need me
And then I can be free
Tell me you don't need me
And then I can be free

No giving in, no compromises
