TRUST NO ONE
'Tarmac (Edit)'
'Tarmac' is a song about the effects of capitalism on the environment, and the way we live our lives in the fast-pace 21st
Century Western World. It questions the sincerity behind our values, and looks back to forgotten school days, when we were
determined to help the environment, rather than consume and pollute with excessive use of the motor car - amongst other
things.
'Entertainment Technology' was a
limited edition charity CD compilation featuring the recording work of students and lecturers at the Creative Technologies
department of the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. All profits from the sale of this 30 track, 2 CD album were
donated to the Dreams Come True Charity, aiming to lift the spirits of sick children, by enabling seriously or terminally ill
children to turn their most cherished dreams into reality. This compilation album is now no longer available to purchase, but
you can still obtain the edited version of 'Tarmac' by buying the 'WedgeWeb' CD online at Sweet Memories by

Lyrics
Do you remember things we did?
Distant cousins say it's not right
Was it me or was it you?
Am I the only one that's left
Will there ever be a way
They're snapping at my heels

We can travel so far and wide
Cross the borders, visit cities
Journey on and into the night
Stopping off when we feel weary
But just what do we leave behind?
Does it really need defining?
Do we learn the lesson this time
Or will we just keep driving?
What they said when we were kids?
We could wave goodbye to this if we don't bother
(They're snapping at my heels)
Now you're just staring at your 'phone
Disregarding all you've known
And you're trying to be the same as all the others
(I fall beneath the wheels)
But I feel it getting warmer
And the rain, it beats down all night
Now there's no such thing as normal
Cross the street on foot if you dare
Take a step and take your chances
Taking in what's left of the air
We are so half-hearted
Who was the first to tear right through
All the things we said we'd do with good intentions?
(They're snapping at my heels)
And the only consequence
Is no inconvenience
Yet we'll find the true expense will not be mentioned
(I fall beneath the wheels)
Who's sticking by the things we said?
Maybe one day, but not yet, we'll find an option
(They're snapping at my heels)
While you're playing with your 'phone
Your friends and lovers sit alone
Waiting for some kind of home that you can't give them
(I fall beneath the wheels)
We can accommodate this pace
And preserve some empty space for all that follow?
(They're snapping at my heels)
You're just staring into space
Because you've never found that place
And you've never had the time to really bother
I fall beneath the wheels
We're not living our lives
We're just desensitised
We all pine for the past
The present will not last
