Trust No One LIVE A LIE

'Live A Lie' is a song about stubborness and inflexibility within a relationship, brought on by the other party criticizing and pushing the narrator into unwanted scenarios and decisions. The music has an almost funk feel to it at the beginning, with various sampled loops of Fraser's Washburn guitar sent through a Jim Dunlop 'Cry Baby Wah' pedal. The synths were arranged to begin sparsely and slowly build to heighten the tension suggested by the lyrics, before the track explodes at the last chorus with the addition of crunchy open fretted rock guitar chords. This sound (a small part of which was played by Andrew rather than Fraser for a change) was intended to give the impression of hearing a live performance in front of a massive stack of speakers, and was simulated by amplifying the original guitar track and blasting it out around Andy's house, while recording it on two other tracks from seperate microphones placed in different rooms around the house. The resulting tracks are panned hard left and right subtley during this last chorus, to surround the listener with their overbearing feel.
